Just a Moment, composed in 2012, was inspired by the poignant, dramatic, and often unexpectedly daring piano music of Franz Schubert. Much of the material derives from the haunting theme of Schubert’s Moment Musical opus 94 no. 2, a melody that weaves throughout the piece in various guises; as layers overlap, a ghostly dance becomes frenzied and wild, only to depart abruptly, leaving us to contemplate the reverberant echoes of this Moment Musical.
